The barcodes you make are yours

You may use the files you make here for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, with no credit needed. This site claims no rights in them. The site's text, design and code stay the property of the site, except for the open source parts listed further down.

Your numbers are your responsibility

This site draws what you type. It does not issue, license or register numbers and it does not check who owns a number. You are responsible for having the right to use any number you encode. Retail UPC and EAN numbers are licensed through GS1. A retailer or marketplace may reject or remove a product that uses a number not licensed to you.

What you must not do

Do not use these tools to copy another company's product codes or to pass a made-up number off as a real product. Do not use them to make false identity documents, tickets, coupons or postage, or for anything else unlawful. Do not attack the site, overload it, or try to get around its security.

Test before you print

Barcode printing depends on your printer, your label stock and your scanner, and nothing on this site can test those. Print a sample and scan it with the equipment you will use before you run a batch or send artwork to press.

No warranty

The tools, files and information are provided as they are, free of charge, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. Automated tests reduce mistakes and cannot rule them out. Size and format guidance summarizes published standards and does not replace them or a retailer's own requirements. The disclaimer says more about what a generated barcode is and is not.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the site's operators are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. This covers any such loss from using the tools or relying on the information here. That includes reprints, rejected shipments, lost sales and chargebacks. Because the service is free, total liability for any claim is limited to $50.

Advertising

The site shows no ads at present. If ads served by Google are added later, they will be marked as ads and kept away from the tools' inputs, previews and download buttons. The privacy policy will describe them before the first one appears, including the cookies involved and how to turn off personalized ads. Advertisers have no say in which tools exist, what the guides say, or which sources they cite.

Source documents on other websites

Each list of sources links out to documents such as GS1 standards and platform help pages. Those websites are outside this site's control, and it takes no responsibility for what they say.

Open source parts

The Data Matrix, PDF417 and QR Code encoders use bwip-js under the MIT license, which includes Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript. Barcode digits and the site's text use Atkinson Hyperlegible fonts under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The license notices are published in full.

When these terms change
